The Water Log
This month, we’d like to introduce you to Betsy Fowler! You’ll find Betsy teaching our water exercise classes and greeting all of our swimmers at our front desk. We asked Betsy a few questions so you could get to know her better.
Have you heard that the 2024 US Olympic Trials for Swimming will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in June? We can’t help but be excited and want to make sure you can share in the fun! We’re launching our own All Lanes Lead to Indy Challenge in 2024.
This month, we’d like to introduce you to one of our Senior Staff: Nicole Carpenter! Nicole is currently in an online Early Childhood Education program through Indiana University. We asked Nicole a few questions so you could get to know her better. Read on!

The Carmel Swim Academy is committed to ensuring financial need is not a barrier to children learning how to swim, a lifesaving and essential skill. We are delighted to share that our free swim lesson program was supported by the National Pool and Hot Tub Alliance’s Step into Swim Grant this fall. Step Into Swim is an initiative committed to creating more swimmers: “Every child deserves access to safe swimming education and the ability to feel confident, inspired and empowered in the water.”
With our carefully-developed unique curriculum, flexible scheduling, streamlined access to competitive swimming, and *life-saving* programs, there truly is no comparison: Carmel Swim Academy is scary good at what we do! Will you help more central Indiana children benefit from our best-in-class programs? When you donate to support our expansion into the new Carmel Swim Academy pool, you ensure the safety and enjoyment of countless children around the water. While we all might have spent some time banishing monsters from closets or under the bed, the BEST step against a real danger you can take for your child is enrolling them in swim lessons. Participating in Carmel Swim Academy programs *decreases* your child’s risk of drowning by 88%. Will you help us banish that very real scare for more central Indiana children?
You know making sure your child is safe in the water is one of the most important things you can do for your family. Amidst the jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, and witches that mark the Halloween season, nothing is scarier than your family being unsafe around the water. Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death in young children, but participation in formal swim lessons can reduce that risk by 88%. Will you make a gift to help increase opportunities to these critical programs to more central Indiana children? Any amount you can donate will help us complete construction on the new pool (set to open in the coming months!) and outfit it for expanded programs.
Construction continues to progress on the new Carmel Swim Academy facility. This six-lane, 25-yard pool will be the home base for all Carmel Swim Club noncompetitive and community-based programs, which operate under the Carmel Swim Academy name. We anticipate opening the pool this winter.
Carmel Swim Club’s single annual fundraiser, 10 Days of Courage, Perseverance, and Giving is back! We are thrilled to announce that this year’s event culminates on International Water Safety Awareness Day, May 15. The funds we raise through 10 Days of CPG support the construction of the Carmel Swim Academy, which will empower Carmel Swim Club to broaden and deepen community impact through our learn-to-swim programs that will help children be safer around the water.
