This month, we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Mangum! Brooke works as a Supervisor and Instructor at CSA. She graduated from Butler University in December with her Bachelor’s in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. She’ll attend Calvin University’s distance MA program in Speech-Language Pathology this fall. We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her better:

Why did you start working for CSA?
I became involved with Carmel Swimming at the age of 10, upon joining the Carmel Swim Club. It has been a big part of my life ever since. I discovered a passion for working with children during my summers as a swim coach. When I came across a job opportunity for a swim instructor at CSA, it felt like a natural fit for me and I’ve loved it since then!

How would you describe the culture at CSA?
The culture at CSA is very welcoming and fun, fostering a safe and friendly learning environment. With programming tailored to accommodate all ages and abilities, CSA ensures that everyone feels included and supported in their swimming journey.

Why do you think swim lessons are important?
Not only do swim lessons provide essential water safety skills, reducing the risk of drowning accidents, but also instill confidence and foster a lifelong passion for swimming. Summer swim team is where I found my love for the sport, making it particularly fulfilling as an instructor to not only teach safety, but also to inspire a love for swimming in my students.

What do you like more about teaching/working at CSA?
The most rewarding aspect of teaching at CSA is witnessing swimmers progress and grow, both in their swimming abilities and personal confidence. I love all of my swimmers and seeing them master a new skill is always such a rewarding experience! There is also a sense of camaraderie among staff members and I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing the best experience for parents and swimmers alike. Working alongside such a committed team is not only motivating but also a lot of fun!
