Lifeguard Certification
Carmel Swim Academy is proud to offer StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification Courses
This lifeguard training course prepares participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and realistic rescue scenarios, students will develop the professional skills expected of certified lifeguards.
We have two upcoming courses:
- March 7-8
- May 9-10
Participants will learn surveillance and prevention techniques, water rescue skills, spinal injury management, and emergency response procedures. The course also includes training in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED use, and First Aid, ensuring lifeguards are fully prepared to respond to both water- and land-based emergencies.
This course emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, and decision-making under pressure. Successful completion requires the following:
- Active participation in all scheduled days
- Completion of online pre-course work, which will be sent prior to start of class
- Passing written exam
- Demonstrating competency in all required skills.
Upon completion, participants who meet all requirements will earn a StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification valid for one year. StarGuard Elite is a nationally-recognized training program accepted by the Indiana Board of Health.
Participants will learn both in and out of the water during the course, and must meet the following requirements to register:
