This month, we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Farnsworth! A CSA lifeguard, Kellie has taken point with our expanded facility and operations at the Carmel High School. We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her better.
How did you start working with the Carmel Swim Academy?
“I moved to Indianapolis at the end of the winter and decided I wanted a change of pace after spending the past six years as a paralegal. I joined my first swim team when I was five, started teaching lessons and life guarding in high school, and have worked in aquatics/recreation in some shape or form for the past 25 years. When I saw that CSA had openings, I knew that being back at a pool was where I wanted it to be.”
How would you describe the culture at Carmel Swim Academy?
“Community-oriented. I love how our lessons start at the Caregiver/Child level and the curriculum is set up to keep the students engaged as they progress and grow. There is a swim lesson level that matches each child’s need. Junior Swim League, lap swim, and time for Masters practice ensures that there is time for community members to enjoy swimming along with our amazing CSC swimmers that practice and compete at CHS.”
Why do you think swim lessons are important?
“Swim lessons are very important from a safety aspect, it’s great for kids to start learning at a young age how to be safe around the water. Swimming is also a great activity that can be enjoyed for all ages, and lessons are a great way for kids to not only safely engage in the water but to start to learn how to have fun and build confidence in an activity that they can participate in throughout their whole lives.”
What do you like most about working at CSA?
“The people. I am enjoying getting to know all of my co-workers, the coaches, and the CSC swimmers. I love getting to come to CHS every day and watching the swimmers’ progress and getting to know them.”
