You know Carmel Swim Academy offers the best swim lessons in central Indiana, but you might not be sure which swim class is the right one for your swimmer. Every swim school has their own specific system when it comes to naming their levels, and we wanted to break CSA’s down for you right here so you know exactly where to make your splash!

First, the basics to know: Carmel Swim Academy breaks our classes out by age AND ability. This is important so that swimmers of all ages can feel comfortable learning side by side with their peers and instructors can focus on consistent skills within a class. We have series names for each of our age groups and offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced level classes within each grouping. Fun fact: the four primary swim lesson groupings at CSA are all named for Greek and Roman gods of the sea and freshwater!

Caregiver-Child Classes: these swim lessons for infants and toddlers help your child gain confidence and feel comfortable in the water with a parent, grandparent, or trusted caregiver by their side! CSA offers these classes for 3-36 month olds. Some classes are combined across all of these ages, while we also break out this series into level one for 3-14 months and level two for 15-36 months as our schedule allows. Each of these classes are 30-minutes long.

Hydros Series: swim lessons for three and four-year-olds. The Hydros Series features three different levels for your swimmer, beginning with basic water safety and progressing through independent floatation and movement. All Hydros Series classes have a 3:1 student to instructor ratio. The classes are 35-minutes long.

Neptune Series: swim lessons for five and six-year-olds. The Neptune Series features three different levels for your swimmer, beginning with basic water safety and progressing through independent floatation and movement. Swimmers who have mastered all Neptune 3 skills and are at least kindergarten are eligible to progress in swim lessons at CSA or move onto the Carmel Swim Club competitive team. All Neptune Series classes have a 3:1 student to instructor ratio. The classes are 35-minutes long.

Triton Series: swim lessons for seven to nine-year-olds. The Triton Series features four different levels for your swimmer, beginning with basic water safety and progressing through all four competitive strokes. Depending on your swimmer’s grade level they may be eligible to move onto the Carmel Swim Club competitive team after mastering certain Triton levels. Triton 1 and 2 classes have a 4:1 student to instructor ratio, Triton 3 and 4 classes have a 6:1 student to instructor ratio. The classes are 45-minutes long.

Poseidon Series: swim lessons for ten to 14-year-olds. The Poseidon Series features four different levels for your swimmer, beginning with basic water safety and progressing through all four competitive strokes and even dives and turns. Depending on your swimmer’s grade level they may be eligible to move onto the Carmel Swim Club competitive team after mastering certain Poseidon levels. Poseidon 1 and 2 classes have a 4:1 student to instructor ratio, Poseidon 3 and 4 classes have a 6:1 student to instructor ratio. The classes are 45-minutes long.
