The Carmel Swim Academy is committed to ensuring financial need is not a barrier to children learning how to swim, a lifesaving and essential skill. We are delighted to share that our free swim lesson program was supported by the National Pool and Hot Tub Alliance’s Step into Swim Grant this fall. Step Into Swim is an initiative committed to creating more swimmers: “Every child deserves access to safe swimming education and the ability to feel confident, inspired and empowered in the water.”

Carmel Swim Academy provides free swim lessons to children who are on free/reduced lunch, or who’s family is enrolled in a county utility assistance program. 73% of children in households with incomes less than $50,000 have little-to-no swimming ability. With drowning being the leading cause of injury-related death in young children, it is critical the financial hardship does not deny a child access to swim lessons.

As the new Carmel Swim Academy pool opens this year, we look forward to growing this important initiative. For more details and to apply for CSA’s Free Swim Lesson program, please click here. To find out more about the Step into Swim grant, please click here.
