CARMEL, INDIANA (April 21, 2021) – The Carmel Swim Club (CSC) will break ground on a new facility, the Carmel Swim Academy in two weeks. Carmel Swim Academy construction commences with a ceremonial groundbreaking on Wednesday, May 5 at 2:30 PM on the west side of the Carmel Total Fitness facility, located at 820 City Center Drive in Carmel. This event is open to the media and general public, and guests are asked to please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Construction will continue over the next ten months, and the Carmel Swim Academy will open for program operations in April 2022.

Located in the heart of Carmel, adjacent to the existing Carmel Total Fitness gym, the new pool will provide critical space to expand Carmel Swim Club’s non-competitive programs in an effort to more fully live out the organization’s mission, “teaching excellence through swimming, for life.” Carmel Swim Academy will have a six-lane, 25-yard pool, and will include an adjacent zero-entry area for easy access and optimum instruction for the youngest swimmers. Carmel Swim Academy will provide space for CSC’s existing group swimming lesson program to expand, as well as offer new community programs, including adaptive and inclusive swim lessons, classes for infants and parents, lap swimming, and fitness classes for adults.

“We are delighted to be breaking ground on the Carmel Swim Academy in two weeks,” Carmel Swim Club Head Coach and CEO Chris Plumb said. “This facility will provide life-saving programming for children in and around Carmel, as well as opportunities for our entire central Indiana community to engage in healthy activities in the water. The Carmel Swim Club looks forward to leveraging our expertise and commitment to excellence to provide a continuum of top-notch programs in this beautiful new pool.”

While the pool is under construction, Carmel Swim Academy programs, including group swim lessons, private/semi-private swim lessons, stroke technique, and swim club prep classes continue to be offered at PrimeLife Enrichment Center, Carmel High School, and outdoors at the Smokey Row Family Swim Center through the summer. Notably, a free swim lesson program is available for families experiencing financial hardship.

Preconstruction and fundraising efforts are underway. Key partners include GEA Architects, Summit Construction, The Veridus Group, and BK Real Estate Ventures.
